Part Time Environmentalist

a student's guide to green living

About Emily

Emily is 17 and studies at Curtin University in WA. She's interested in design, technology, and sustainability - it is this last interest that put her on the path to investigating ways to live that minimise her impact on the earth, and she encourages others to do the same.

She's found that despite newfound public awareness about the importance of the environment (particularly in relation to climate change), many people still do not fully understand the relationship between the choices they make in their everyday lives and the state of our natural resources. Being a student, Emily appreciates that environmentalism does not rank highly on many young people's priority list, but she strongly believes that there's plenty of ways to make personal changes for the good of the environment without compromise to budget, study, or social lifestyle.

Using the social and communication capabilities of Web 2.0, Emily hopes to make environmental sustainability an inbuilt value of all young people and students. If you want to hear more about how you can incorporate aspects of environmentalism into your own life, feel free to follow Emily on twitter, tumblr, or Care2.
